Is Gluten Free Diet Healthy For Me Or Not?

Is Gluten Free Diet is healthy for me or not?

Hello My gluten free buddies!!Hope you are fine..

Since I am celiac I am following Gluten Free Diet since many years. Many of normal people means not have any Gluten problems asks many a time that "Is Gluten Free diet is healthy for me or not”?

And I always wondering What if a person who is not celiac or not a Gluten Intolerant or doest have any gut related issues can have Gluten Free Diet?

Here I discussed many pro and cons to have Gluten Free Diet for the people with Gluten problems and without Gluten Problems.

Firstly for those who don't know what's gluten and what's celiac and what's gluten intolerant?
Just giving some idea about

What is Gluten? What is Celiac? What is Gluten Intolerance or Gluten Sensitivity?

Gluten is a protein that mainly found in foods like wheat, barely, rye.Gluten work like glue to make food chew and  help them to binds together.

Some people find difficulties having Gluten food items.and this conditions of their health is diagnosed with either Celiac or Gluten Intolerant.

Gluten Free diet is recommended for people with celiac disease, gluten-sensitivity. Gluten Free diet may help for some people with irritable bowel syndrome, the neurological disorder gluten ataxia, type 1 diabetes and HIV-associated enteropathy.Else then this there may not be any other medical conditions where you can use GF diet and is beneficial.

Gluten Free Diet is not about only preventing Gluten but this is about to choose proper balanced diet.once you start GF food you are not getting the many good components of food like fibre, vitamins and minerals, fats and carbohydrates which are present in wheat ,berely or rye.So if this continue you may get other serious medical conditions.Green vegetables ,fruits,Whole grain ,legumes, meat, low fat dairy items are among Gluten Free Food List and are good choices.

If you are allergic to Gluten then you must have to follow Gluten Free diet.but if you don't have problem with gluten you should eat all kind food I suggest.

Why To Start Gluten Free diet ?

1.Because you are Celiac.

2.Because you are Gluten Sensitive or Gluten Allergic

3.Your doctors suggested you GF diet

4. Because it Improves your gastrointestinal health

5.If you are allergic to some other components of wheat like sugar(FODMAP) found in wheat or any other component.

6.Gluten-free whole grains, such as amaranth, quinoa, buckwheat, teff, millet, corn and rice, are good natural sources of folate, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin and iron — as well as protein and fibre.

7.For weight loss and it is just because I assume you are planning the total diet and having balanced food items which includes all right amount of necessary nutrients, water and roughage.
8.For Weight gain because you are taking proper balanced  gluten free diet and once your body start to absorb nutrients you will feel like your wight is improving.

    9. Due to this balanced planned diet one can improve overall health and can Improve athletic performance

Why Not To Start Gluten Free Diet?

1.Because you don't have any gut related issues

2.The foods not included in a gluten-free diet provide important components like

    • Iron
    • Calcium
    • Fiber
    • Thiamin
    • Riboflavin
    • Niacin
    • Folate

So if you follow Gluten Free Diet you are changing your nutrient intake.

3.If you are using GF Food items you need to replace gluten containing food with heavy calorie or heavy fat containing items,so it leads you to higher risk of heart problems.

4.Readymade Gluten Free Food items which are selling in market  doesn't contain much nutrients.

5.Though Gluten Free Whole Grains are good source of folate and iron, you can eat them without being Gluten Free.

6.Gluten Free Food items are so much expensive in market.

7.Whole wheat is also a major source of dietary fiber, which the bowels need to work properly. “The average American diet is deficient in fiber,” says Dr. Leffler. “Take away whole wheat and the problem gets worse.” It’s possible to get the fiber you need from other grains, such as brown rice or quinoa, or from fruits, vegetables, and beans, but you’ll need to make the effort.

Wheat is one of the world’s most commonly consumed cereal grains. It comes from a type of grass (Triticum) that is grown in countless varieties worldwide. However, for people who tolerate it, whole-grain wheat can be a rich source of various antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and fiber.Whole wheat may be a decent source of several vitamins and minerals, including selenium, manganese, phosphorus, copper, and folate.

8.In a study showing healthy person when ate gluten, they were less likely to be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Fiber and other vitamins and nutrients found in healthy foods containing gluten proved to be beneficial to the overall health of these participants.

So here we might have a question that why many people get benefits if Gluten Free diet is not good for their health?

There are several reasons why most people feel better on a gluten-free diet.

    1. Avoiding gluten means cutting back on Processed or canned food. This food contain high calories ,fat and sugar in them for preservation sometimes.

2.So once you started eating fresh home based food you feel better and less tired and feel energetic.just because you are not eating this fat full processed food items.

3.Mostly when you find options for gluten containing items you replace them with fruits and vegetables.and all these can improve your health.

4.many times if you are allergic to sugar (FODMAP) then Gluten Free Diet can help.

So all I can say from this positive and negative sides of the discussion that people who decided to switch to gluten free diet without having any gluten issues should maintain their balanced diet.otherwise they can get other serious problems. Avoiding gluten entirely is not a good dietary choice unless there is a medical need.
